About Trekking at Kalsubai Peak
The base village for Kalsubai Peak Trek is Bari village. It is a small serene village settled at the foothills. To experience the awesomeness of Kalsubai, you have to reach at Bari Village first. As you enter there then start trekking towards the starting point of Kalsubai Mountain. After passing the whole village, you will find a small temple of Lord Hanuman along a small stream. Then this is the point where you will put your first step on the trekking trail.
The trekking trail is rocky, and at some places it is steep. It is tough to climb on the hard rocks so by the efforts of the tourism department of Maharashtra and villagers at some points metal ladder with strong support installed which helps you climb via natural trails to reach the peak. As you enter the Kalsubai top, you will find a small temple dedicated to the Kalubai Devi. It is the place of belief for local villagers who seeks blessings from the temple by Kalubai devi. Every Tuesday and Thursday, local villagers is gathered there for worship along with the priest. During the Navratri, every year the local fair is also organized by villagers where peoples from nearby villages pay their visit and offer garlands and prasad at the temple for getting blessed from Kalubai Devi.
To complete the trek from one side 4-5 hours required to complete 12 kilometres trekking route. The difficulty of Kalsubai Peak trek is ideal for the beginners although here experienced trekkers also enjoy.
It is the all-weather trek. In June- August, it is best for monsoon trekking, In September – October, it becomes a flower trek, and also November to May is a suitable time for trekking here. However, this trek is most enjoyable in the months of monsoon, where the whole site becomes green land.
How to Reach for Kalsubai Peak Trek
For trekking at Kalsubai, you can reach from Mumbai as well as from Pune also. The distance between Kalsubai and Mumbai is 156 Kilometres, and from Pune, it is 178 kilometres ahead.
To reach Kalsubai from Mumbai you cab board on the train from CSMT Mumbai and reach Kasara from there you can hire a private jeep which will drop off you at Bari Village. The other option is sharing jeep, which is economical. You can also reach Igatpuri, which is more near to Bari.
If you are planning to reach there by Pune, then you have to reach Igatpuri then by taking private or sharing jeep you can reach there.
